I am a new poster on this board, and have searched to no avail . . .
I have just ordered a 2005 210 Team. I am curious how the stereo is wired. The boat should have 6 Polk/Momo speakers (2 bow, 2 by driver/observer, and 2 rear) as well as the sub. There is at least the Kicker amp that they love to show in the literature that apears to be the 300 (or 350).4 amp (~75W RMSx4??). But what is powering what?
External amp powering sub via 2 channels bridged, and one pair of speakers. HU powering other two pairs?
HU powering all 3 pairs (yuk!), amp powering sub?
More than one external amp?
I want to plan the additions to the system, but want to know what is coming first. My dealer was not too up-to-date on the 2005 offerings.
Thanks for your help!

Your stereo should be similar to the SV211. My SV211 Team has 6 speakers and a sub, 2 up front and 4 in the rear with a subwoofer in the console compartment. The two speakers up front are powered by the Clarion head unit. The four speakers in the rear are powered by a Clarion amplifier driven from the low level RCA outputs from the head unit. The sub is powered from the amp also. There are an additional set of RCA low level outputs which can be used for an additional amplifier.
I added an i1080 Boss amp to drive two EVID 6.2s on the tower.
There really isn't much as far as information goes regarding the 2005 stuff. So I will tell you what I heard(unconfirmed) and what I know(from 2004).
2004 Stereo - TE
Clarion XMD-3 CD Player
Kicker 300x4
Kicker 61/2x6
Clarion Sub 10"
The HU powered the back 2 speakers, so unfortunately you couldn't pull the bass out of them and they would crackle pretty bad. The Amplifier was setup to power the 4 other 61/2's on one side, with the Sub on the other.
This is what I did on my 2004. I purchased a Kicker 600x4, put it in the place of the 300x4 and used the 300x4 to power the Fusion Tower Speakers. So the Sub got 300watts while the 4 front speakers got 300 Watts. I dis-connected the back 2 that were cracking (due to the lack of EQ to pull the bass out) and the Tower Speakers gave those in the back PLENTY of music :D
2005 Stereo - TE (Unconfirmed)
Clarion XMD-3
6- Polk Momo 61/2
Clarion 10' - in a new Fiberglass Box, looks kinda like my old box in my photos (Sealed hopefully)
Clarion APX480M (http://www.clarion.com/usa/product/index.php?mod=details&category=marine&product=APX4 80M)
Speakers are probably going to be setup similar. Amp in a 3-channel where the XMD-3 is running the back 2 speakers and the first 2 channels are going to be running the front four speakers. While the last channel in the setup is going to be for the Sub.
So you are probably looking at 160 RMS for the sub
and 160 RMS for the front 4 Polk Momo Speaks (40 watts a piece) with (52 watts from the HU for the back 2)
Something like that.
Hope that helps. Anyone confirm or deny the above?

that sounds right....i i have 211 team and that is what came in it (i had the dealer pull the system and get a credit back)..
5 1/4 's sound good but dont produce alot of midbass.
the woofer is wwwaaaayy underpowered.. you should never have to add a eq unless something is really wrong..
as a whole boats require ALOT more amp power that you might expect.....it is a open listening area.
i would go no less than 100 watts of clean power(ie zapco, jl, ppi) per channel to the seperates and at least 250 class d to the 10" sub depending on the design(th jl 250/ or 500/1 is awesome)
you might want to consider 6 1/2's all the way around and a dedicated class d amp for the sub. this will allow more midbass and the sub to hit like you would not believe.
i went with:
3 jl 300/2 amps
1 jl 500/1 amp (sub)
6 image dynaimic chamerloan seperates
2 image dynamic id q12's
the cost difference between the two systems is small if you shop right and the sound quality is leaps and bounds better ( though the boat will require a re-wire for the stereo- which isnt that big a deal since the stock wire job is pretty basic imo).
if you stay with the stock head unit- add a preamp more more output....2 volts doesnt really wake the systme up , in a multiamp system...( i went with 8v/16v eclipse)
good luck,
mike

This should show how your current system is wired from the factory.

We got our 2005 210 Team a few weeks ago. The Clarion amp runs the four Polk/Momo's in the boat and the 10" Polk/Momo sub. The head unit runs the bow speakers.
Again the sub box is rather average. It's not sealed at all and does not do the sub justice. We pulled the box out and immediately slid in a 12" in a prefab box and the whole system is not bad at all. Getting rid of the 10 (or possibly puting it in a sealed box) is an easy upgrade that does wonders for the system.
Having said that it's only a short term fix as we are about to add 3 more amps, line driver, swap the 12" for a 15", put the 10 in a custom box in the side and add tower speakers. The custom sub boxes and tower speakers came off our 04 SANTE so it's a bit of a speaker transplant with new electrics. Looking at the Polk/Momo 10" it certainly looks ok as far as construction and magnet size so I'll be interested to hear it once it's in the box.
Long nights are about to start. Should hope to have it all done early Dec. We are in Australia so it will be ready for plenty of riding over Christmas!! We'll post pics.

What diameter are the speaker cut-outs? Are they large enough for 6½" without further cutting? If cutting is required for 6½", what is the material that needs to be cut (fiberglass, wood, etc. + vinyl?).
Also, how much $$ ( f any) should I expect for credit if I ask for no stereo installed?
OK guys, with the new 05 website out (Finally I might add) you see two different types of Subs. One is found in the Packages section of just about all the boats on there.
The other is found in the equipment link in about all of the boats (didn't check them all)
Now, of all the 2005's I have seen, they still have the same Sub box as the 2004's (the first picture). Do they have plans of going to the new box in the package section (Last picture)?
Your bottom picture is from the 210 so it is possible that the different styles might just be according to model. I know last year's 216 looks identical to your top picture. Maybe it is a DD vs. V-Drive thing. Thats my guess.

MY dealer had an early 210 SS, and it had a kicker amp and sub . . . . . Now I am really confused.
The new website mentions "80W" Polk/MOMO speakers for the tower. The 6½" polks/MOMOs are rated for 80W RMS (vs. 70W for the 5¼"). Are the interior speakers also 6½" or 5¼" like I have read?? So many questions. I have asked my dealer to find out EXACTLY what is going into my boat, and what kind of credit I can get if I delete it.
Thanks for the info so far . . .
Please keep posting info on this if you get it!!
Come on people, someone here has to know!

My dealer told me last week when I ordered my 2005, 211 that it would come with the polk 650's (6-1/2") on the inside and the sub would be a 10 inch. He also said that they had redeisgned the sub box and it was not the cheaper looking one but was a sealed box.

it looks like the size of the polks were upsized to 6.5". my 211 came with 5.25".
in regards to subs.....i would consider a credit on the sub and the amps and go with somethng else..i am a big fan of image dynamics idq series... the need a very small enclosure .5 for 10" and .85 for 12"....they are efficent and very musical. also the jl audio class d sub amps are top flight...
