Has anyone figured out how to keep the clock display on the remote up after turning off the power to the head unit? My remote displays the clock for about one minute after turning off the head unit. I'd like it to display the clock at all times if possible.

Mine does the same thing. It's really annoying and I also would like to find the fix for this.

I am thinking about wiring in a second battery that goes around the switch just for the stereo to avoid that annoyance.

I don't think that would help this problem. The clock stays set just fine. It just doesn't display on the remote after turning the head unit off.

This is a very good question, for Clarion. I will look into this with them and post back later

I mis-understood the problem. I don't have the LCD display remote, so I don't have that problem.

My problem is that everytime I flip the master switch to all off, the stereo looses all of its programing.

Check behind the console, there is a yellow wire that is fused. It should be connected to the battery side on the switch. This wire is your constant hot for stereo memory.

I don't think stereo memory is causing this particular problem. The stereo holds the time fine, and holds the station presets fine. The problem is that the remote only displays the time for a short while after switching the unit off. If the unit is switched back on later, the correct time displays on the remote again. I was just hoping that there was some way to keep the time displaying on the remote even when the unit is switched off.

Mine does the same thing Jeff's does. Holds time and presets fine. If you hold in the power button to shut off the music, the clock stays on the screen for about 3-5 seconds, then goes away. I thought at one point the clock used to stay on after it was shut off, but now it doesn't want to do that anymore.

Jeff, I believe Frost's reply is in reference to ag4ever's problem. The yellow wire on the radio provides the memory for the programming. If the master switch also controls the power to this wire, the radio will lose its programming. This yellow wire should have nothing to do with the clock on the remote.

Ah, of course. Sorry about that!

Did anybody come up with a way of keeping the clock displayed on the remote while the radio is turned off? I tried contacting Clarion a couple of times without any luck.

Could it be that this may not be possible since the power to the remote comes from the head unit and once the head unit is turned off, the remote is shut off? Similar to how the blue remote wire to the amp works. The clock may stay on for a minute due to a delay in shutting power off to the remote. Maybe this delay can be extended or removed but this would probably have to be an internal configuration on the radio.

I have done a little bit more research on this. The clock display on the head unit also turns off when the head unit is powered off. I was hoping that the clock on the head unit stayed on as long as the head unit was getting power, whether it was powered on or not. If this had been the case, I would have just moved the power wire for the remote from the head unit to a power source that was on when the ignition was on, and that should have done the trick. The fact that the clock on the head unit also goes off when the power to the head unit turns off causes further problems with this though. Winter is coming, and I hope to solve this problem before next spring.
