Fader Customizing

We just got tower speakers and to make the music loud enough so the skier can hear it, the cockpit speakers are too loud. We decided to make the normal fader in the factory unit to be a fader between tower speakers and cockpit speakers. "Front" is cockpit and "rear" is tower. However, the factory settings have it that the "rear" speakers on the fading only are for low frequency sounds. So when we put the fader to "rear" all the way, all we get is low frequency sounds from the tower speakers.

Does anyone know how to change the "rear" setting to full frequency oppose to low frequency? I know it can be done, but we don't know how... :? Kinda frustrating... and the manual doesn't really help unfortunately....

First, what kind of head unit do you have?

Second, you need to adjust the fade or balance and not the frequency(aka high pass filter). So if you have the tower speakers as the "rear" you need to adjust the fade/balance to the rear speakers until you are content with the volumes. Need more info though, and break out the owner's manual if you have it.

Umm... Don't have the details.... nor the manual w/ me... I'm posting this b/c the manual wasn't much help to the person who was doing this or I. And to be honost don't no much about what I'm talking about, just reiterating what a nice guy was saying... :lol: I could guess but I would probably be wrong and be banned this site due to imbarrassment to CC, Clarion, and PN. :lol:

We have been adjusting the fader constantly and to all positions, even all "rear." But then we only hear low frequency sounds....

Lemme try to rephrase... The whole purpose of doing this is to get the same music across through different speakers... we want the sound out of the tower speakers primarily and very little out of the cockpit speakers b/c when the music is at a volume where the skier can hear it... the passangers are losing their ears b/c the sound from the cockpit speakers is way too loud... get it? Or am I just repeating something and looking like an idiot again? :? :lol:

If you have the MD3 you prob. have the tower amp hooked to the set of RCA plugs that are for the sub. I did that on mine when I first hooked mine up and only got lows out of the tower speakers. You will have to split the RCA's that go to the amp for the cabin speakers before the amp and run to the new tower amp from there. Three sets of RCA's out the back of that head unit, one is input for the optional six disc CD changer, one is for speakers and one is for sub out. Hope this helps, as I said I did the same thing.

Look in your manual again. The second set of RCA plugs CAN be run as a rear fader. In the Clarion manual it tells you this set of RCA's can either be a sub output or a rear output. You have to go through the settings and set it to REAR not sub. Sorry I don't remember how to do this but it is in the manual.

Yea, that will work if you don't plan on running a sub.

Just wanted to thank everyone for trying to help us out. Turns out our installer is trying to set it up just as you are suggesting, however, the manual seems very unclear on how to set the outputs to Rear. If anyone finally figures it out, please let us know. Thanks.
