soft spot

i have a 1988 ski nautique with a soft spot developing underneath the drivers seat and around the ski pylon and in between

i would like to fix the problem during the winter

taking it to someone to fix the spot, or maybe redoing the entire flooring sounds like my best option, i dont want to have to tear into this section then in another year have another

i live in Salisbury, NC its kinda in the middle of nowhere near charlotte, NC

if there is anyone who has had a similar problem and fixed it by yourself or taken it to a shop please let me know everything

if someone can direct me to a place who will be able to fix the problem that would be great

i would like to get this done as soon as possible

You are going to need to do the whole thing at some point. You likely have water in there. Your foam is going to be wet, and your stringers are going to need a good looking at. I am in the throes of doing a nearly complete repair on my wife's Mustang. I did not replace the primary stringers, but everything else is completely new. You can probably get by another season or two until you are really ready to do it all. Go over to www.correctcraftfan.com and start reading. There is way more info on this sort of stuff there than here.

Well, you can pay someone to do it, but it is huge dough. Huge dough. I won't even guess.
I have nearly 150 hours into my wife's Mustang. And all I am doing is structural stuff.
You will get a a decent guess as to cost on CCFan.

I would be curious to hear what they say as far as a ballpark number, and what that includes.
I would ask a bunch of questions about materials and details on exactly what they will and won't do.

wasn't there a guy on here who posted a complete redo of an older nautique and said he was starting a business with complete stringer out restoration? I'm almost positive he was from Utah.

Skibum has a great write up. I seriously doubt he is the one opening the stringer resto business. He is in the service. I think that comment was jokingly referring to another Atlantan guy who did unbelieveable work on his, but not going to open a business. I do not know how you could be in the business of doing that. It is hugely labor intensive and lots of waiting time. I figure I owe myself between $15k and $22.5k labor for the repair/resto I just completed on my wife's mustang. The boat is not worth more than $7-8k.

unbelievable isn't it? Awesome boat though. There's a brown Mustang on my lake and it sounds amazing. Badest sounding boat on the lake, probably.

Ha. Python POWER !! I cannot wait to hear her growl again. Couple more weeks.

Here is a shot of my wife's boat I just got done with. I only did structure and interior stuff. Outside is in the future at some point.
Pulled soaked foam, replaced secondaries and longitudinals. reglassed primaries as they were solid, new flotation, new floor, new carpet, painted dash, new wheel, re-wired, new steering and control cables, sub, and amp, new battery box, new kickboard. I am sure I am forgetting stuff.
Put in 300 hours in 4 months to the day. Brutal but worth it.
Still to come, new windshield, new shifter, sand hull, and repaint.

It is a labor of love.
