XMD1 in a 2000 SAN

I am thinking of putting a XMD1 in my SAN. Has anyone else done this before. The only problem that I think that I am going to have is removing the cover for the old head unit and making the XMD1 fit flush.

Does anyone have any tips on doing this?

If you're going to replace your current head unit with one of the Clarion Marine units, you should consider the XMD3. The XMD1 does not have an aux. input, so connecting external devices like an iPod is somewhat difficult. The XMD3 has an external input.
