  • Ballast-How do they work???

I just purchased a 2004 206 air team. It has one ballast tank. Once i open the two valves anf fill the tanks do I then close the valves to hold the water in while wakeboarding? Then to empty I engage the pump. I seemed that I would empty the tank and then start driving again and my guage would shoe full. Does water flow into the tank when the boat is moving and valves open.

    Thanks Rookie question

yes close them when full. you can empty w/o opening them. basically when you open them it pulls a wire that opens a valve at the inlet and water is allowed in and when you close it it reseals. we all have to start the learning somewhere. i could be mistaken about it b/c it's a 206 but i think im right?

with the boat movement, water dynamics force the water to get in if you have the valve open.
I think that in 2006 all boats had impeller pumps, w/o valves. It's not your case?
Anyway, open the valves to fill, close it and just open again when you need to fill again.
To empty you may not open it.
