Official Correct Craft Press Release
ORLANDO, FLA (January 11, 2007) — Correct Craft, Inc. announced today that it will sponsor the Ski Nautique Big Dawg series for a second consecutive year. The Ski Nautique Big Dawg Slalom series consists of four regionally held 34-mile-per-hour slalom water skiing qualifying tournaments and a final competition in Orlando, Florida.
Each of the four qualifying tournaments pits up to 50 skiers in heart-pounding, head-to-head competition, each vying for a share of $3,000 in cash and a chance to advance to the finals. The top eight finishers at each qualifier will move on to the finals in Orlando, September 29-30, where the cash purse has been increased to $12,000 and the top competitor will claim the Ski Nautique Big Dawg title. The finals competition will be webcast live.
“Correct Craft’s consistent support of this series illustrates their commitment to the sport of water skiing,” said Greg Davis, founder of the Big Dawg concept. “Correct Craft clearly acknowledges the thousands of skiers who are excellent athletes but who will never compete professionally. At this level and in this format, it’s about the love of the sport and the thrill of competition.”
The series is open to skiers 35 years of age or older, who have not placed in the top 10 in a pro tournament in the past three years. Entries for each qualifying event will be limited to the first 50 qualified paid skiers.
“After last year’s series we were inundated with requests by new clubs and venues in virtually every region who wanted to conduct qualifying events,” said Correct Craft’s Vice President of Marketing Terry Dunagin. “So we’re moving many of the stops to try new sites and to bring the Ski Nautique Big Dawg series to more skiers. Last year’s hosts were extremely accommodating and supportive and we look forward to similar success this year.”
The first 2007 Ski Nautique Big Dawg qualifier will be June 23 – 24, at Austin Aquaplex, in Austin, Texas. The second stop will be July 14 – 15, at Silver Spray Sports’ Lake Jepawhit, in Gaines, Michigan. The third stop will be August 11 – 12, at Shortline Lake, in Elk Grove, California. The fourth qualifying event will be held September 8 – 9, at Skyview Lake, in Harmony, North Carolina. For registration information, log on to www.skinautique.com.
